Who hasn’t always wanted to make a time lapse movie? Blooming flowers, clocks spinning, clouds passing by during the day all come to mind. It’s kind of a tough thing to do if you don’t have a camera with a time lapse function built in.

Well, not anyone can make their own time lapse movie with my handy-dandy Time Lapse Movie Maker. All you need is an inexpensive web cam and your web browser. Head over to the Time Lapse Movie Maker page, choose a recording interval and name your movie. Hit record and off it goes.

Shorter intervals are better for shorter or smoother movies. Shorter intervals are also better for things that move a little fast. For instance if you were recording yourself sitting at your desk, 5 second intervals are appropriate.

Longer intervals are better for long time lapse movies or for things that move slowly. The hands of a moving clock, blooming flowers or clouds for instance. The clock time lapse movie I included called “Watchin the Time” was done on 60 second intervals.

The time lapse movies are recorded at 15 frames per second. Based on the interval you select, it calculates approximately how long you need to record to achieve a two minute movie.

It chooses a random color for each visitor. There is no locking of words so someone could steal a word you are moving. Every day or so one word is removed and a new one is added to mix it up a little. It only supports at most 10 people playing at once.

Have Fun!
