Summer Vacation Starts

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005

Had a great visit with my Dad and Pamo out at their place in Port Angeles. I played a bit of World of Warcraft and had a great dinner. Thanks Pamo!!

The kids last day of school was yesterday and that means that today was the kick-off of the Fellowship of the Thing project me and some guys are doing. We met at Starbucks in Rose Hill this morning at 5:00 AM to work on our personal projects. It was extremely productive and although I was really tired, I am very pleased with the results and am encouraged to continue.

I think this summer is going to be really busy. We have a lot of people visiting plus we want to go on a road trip for a week or so. I think Carol and I are going to have to sit down with a calendar and plan it out.

I finally got most of the DVD’s burned for all the families from the Mark Twain PTSA annual play. Boy that’s a lot of work but I think its worth it. They are real treasures for everyone involved plus it helps to fund the program as all the money goes straight to the PTSA. I don’t think anyone will ever realize how much work it is though! I’m burning the last two now as I write this.

The Fellowship

Tuesday, June 7th, 2005

How many of you software developers out there have a laundry list of projects you want to work on but haven’t or have left them mostly unfinished? I mean the pet projects that are simply either small personal projects that you simply find appealing or even grand projects that will change the world.

Answer truthfully now, why haven’t you done them? You want to, probably pretty badly but the years pass and they are still left on the back of a napkin or floating around in your head. I think it is a fairly common problem with most developers. I started exploring the problem with my friend Neil. As an experiment to try and solve the conundrum, we formed The Fellowship of the Thing and created a blog to document our progress.

Back from Europe

Friday, June 3rd, 2005

We got back from Europe last night and I’m exhausted. I took the day off to help recover from jet lag.

I made some notes while I was there so I could put it into the blog so I will get that in shortly with a link to the pictures as well.
