Kelly got the spa treatment for her 13th birthday which included a facial, massage, hair highlights and eyebrows done. She looks great! I took this shot when she came home to show her off.

Friday, May 6th, 2005Man there are a lot of books on the market on how to program in Macromedia Flash but nothing on how to draw and illustrate with it. I’ve seen some tutorials on the web but they are so basic and really don’t help me much. I do have a little artistic talent and really don’t need help with what the Rectangle Tool does etc.
Well, I picked up this book called Illustrating With Macromedia Flash Mx 2004. I recommend this book to anyone looking for some techniques on illustrating in Flash.
The book itself isn’t all that great to read. Some things are a bit hard to follow but then again, maybe I’m just dense. Where it excells is helping you learn to work with the gradient tools to create some really awesome illustrations. The link below is my work done by following the tutorial from chapter 10. Not bad. There are a few flaws but I’m not going back to fix them since it is just a tutorial after all. Enjoy!
